Abstract

In this paper, a novel multi-functional terahertz beam splitter model is proposed. Under the normal incidence of a 2.52 THz light wave, the hybrid metamaterial can implement ultra-uniform two- (±1st), three- (0th, ±1st), four- (±1st, ±2nd) and five-port (0th, ±1st, ±2nd) output for both transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) polarizations at different optimal structure. The efficiencies of each diffraction order are greater than 49.4% (two-port), 32.9% (three-port), 23.5% (four-port) and 19.5% (five-port). The electric field distribution of the metamaterial microstructure is calculated by finite element analysis, which can help understand the propagation process and mechanism of the light wave in a grating structure. In addition, for the sake of practical production and application, the incident wave band and structural parameters of the four kinds of splitter devices are analyzed.
