Abstract

An extensive analytical investigation of annular two-phase flows has been conducted with a general mathematical formulation which is applicable to both adiabatic and boiling flows. The model can be applied to flows in both simple and complex geometries, and predicts the thermal-hydrodynamic characteristics of annular two-phase flows over a wide range of conditions with very good accuracy. The general model formulation and comparisons of predictions of the model with air-water experimental data are given in chapter I. Predictions of the model are compared with critical heat flux and other experimental data in round tubes, annuli, and rod arrays in chapters II, III, and IV, respectively. The model is unique with respect to completeness and range of applicability.
