Abstract
We show a generalized short pulse equation is linked to a negative Sawada–Kotera equation via a reciprocal transformation. With the aid of the reciprocal transformation, we obtain multi-cuspon solutions of the generalized short pulse equation by virtue of Darboux transformations of the negative Sawada–Kotera equation.
