Abstract

This is an examination of the way in which A. S. Byatt and Zakes Mda mix media, incorporating the works of established artists in their fiction as tools to investigate the process of healing after an experience of suffering and grief. The fiction notes the real-life development of the work of the artist even as the works of the artist have a redemptive effect on the lives of the fictitious characters.
