Abstract

AbstractAs the single centralized controller is not meeting the requirements of large scale networks, the distributed control plane have been proposed for software defined networks. But the distributed SDN also have overlooked challenges in terms of scalability, consistency, reliability and load balancing. The increase in traffic flow at one particular switch may increase the load of the controller handling that switch, leads to uneven distribution of load among controllers. This unbalanced load distribution results in poor network performance. This paper presents a state-of-the-art for controller load balancing by switch migration techniques.KeywordsSDNControl planeLoad balancingSwitch migration
