Abstract

A range profile extrapolation scheme is presented for the shooting and bouncing ray (SBR) technique to compute multi-aspect data from the ray tracing information at one angle. We derive an approximate, closed form formula for computing the change in ray path length as a function of incident angle. This extrapolation scheme allows a set of near-by target signatures, viz. range profiles, to be approximately calculated using the ray-tracing information from only the central angle. Several extrapolation results are presented to demonstrate the performance of the extrapolation scheme.
