Abstract

A patient with a history of lingual frenectomy presents with a mass on the ventral tongue. En bloc excision of the mass was performed and histopathologic examination was consistent with a mucocele. Mucoceles involving the Glands of Blandin-Nuhn of the ventral tongue are uncommon lesions after lingual fenectomies. This case report emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive history to arrive at the correct diagnosis for pediatric ventral tongue lesions and highlights the importance of careful surgical technique to minimize iatrogenic mucoceles.
