Abstract

Background: Appendiceal mucocele corresponds to appendicular dilation, with cystic appearance and mucoid intraluminal contents. Present in 0.3% of appendectomies performed, it has a prevalence between 50-60 years. It may present itself in benign and malignant form. Due to its symptomatological diversity, it is difficult to diagnose it preoperatively, being an incidental finding in surgical procedures and anatomopathological exams.
