Abstract

This article studies the presence of ugly feelings in Gardien Party, a play written by Mohamed El Khatib and Valérie Mréjen. Examining the specific example of irritation, we will describe the political and aesthetic work of this so-called negative emotion, namely its impact on the production and reception of the play. Irritation, as an affect, will be placed in juxtaposition with laughter, the presence of which also sheds light on the project’s purpose.
