Abstract

In this paper, a new separation technique is proposed to determine the forward and backward running waves in elastic conduits. This method is based on the knowledge of the wave velocity, which is estimated by taking into account the non-linear effect introduced by elasticity of the wall and the normal periodicity of the cardiac cycle. In the separation analysis, we take into account friction as well as non-linear effects due to convective acceleration. The results obtained are compared to the classical linear method and to the previous methods.
