Abstract

It shouldn't be a surprise that more teens are vaping, but the increase from last year to this year was dramatic, according to results from the 2018 Monitoring the Future (MTF) survey announced by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) last December. In 2017, 27.8% of 12th graders reported vaping in the past year; in 2018, this was up to 37.3%. In addition, it's clear that more teens are vaping nicotine, not flavors. Last year, teens may not have been sure what they were getting.
