Abstract

This paper presents the geometric relations of the conical-oval nose projectile and proposes a method to calculate the form factor of the conical-oval nose projectile and conical nose projectile.From that, the optimal range of the ogive diameter is determined in order to reach the maximum of extemal volume of projectile with given form factor and projectile length, then thelength of projectile nose with conical-ogive shape equals only 60% of the length of the ogive nose with the same form factor. The use of the conical-ogive nose increases the aerodynamics of the projectile and reduces the required nose length
