Abstract
Biological characteristics of Spotted Ghoul fish (Inimicus sinensis, Valenciennes 1883), were fished in the waters of Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan provinces, Vietnam during the period from July to December 2017 and 2018 has been studied. The results showed that male fishes had average size of 146.26 ± 17.65mm (from 82 to 205mm) in length and 70.09 ± 22.16g (from 12.16 to 130.44g) in weight; female fishes had average size 171.95 ± 24.51mm (from 105 to 287 mm) in length and 114.45 ± 42.18g (from 34.45 to 234.93g) in weight. The sex ratio of Inimicus sinensis is 1: 2; fecundity is from 15,365 to 16,172 eggs / female. Ovaries develop through 6 stages and stage IV is the maturity stage. The eggs of Inimicus sinensis are round and large, the egg diameter is in range of 900-1000 μm and Inimicus sinensis spawn throughout the year. The main spawn season (high gonadosomatic index) is in June, July and August.
