Abstract

Mossbauer measurements have been made on a two-dimensional (2D) random mixture K2Ni1−xFe x F4 with competing spin anisotropies. The concentration versus temperature phase diagram predicted by Oguchi and Ishikawa for mixed systems with competition between orthorhombic anisotropies has been shown to exist in K2Ni1−xFe x F4. The coexistence of two kinds of Mossbauer spectra is seen in the transition regions, and is believed to be an intrinsic property of this system.
