Abstract

The magnetic anisotropy, isomer shift, and hyperfine field for the amorphous series Fe 84 B 16− x C x (0 ⩽ x ⩽ 10) and Fe 84 B 16− x Si x (0 ⩽ x ⩽ 4) have been measured by the Mössbauer spectroscopy. The magnetic anisotropy is independent of x for Fe 84 B 16− x C x alloys, but shows much dependence on x for Fe 84 B 16− x Si x alloys. The isomer shift, mean hyperfine field, and distribution width of the hyperfine field are all found to increase with increasing C or Si contents. A comparison of the hyperfine field and the magnetic moment shows that the former does not have the same behavior as the latter.
