Abstract

NiB is a system which glass formation from melt occurs readily in two composition ranges. With the purpose of analyzing the influence of Sn in the glass forming ability of the ternary alloy, Sn was added to NiB. Ni x B y Sn z samples were obtained by rapid quenching from the melt with the melt spinning technique. The glass formation was checked by X-ray diffraction and the Sn environment was studied by Mossbauer spectroscopy.
