Abstract

Construction of Mössbauer spectrometer designed for in-situ investigation of very fast processes with characteristic time from milliseconds up to seconds is described in detail. The developed spectrometer allows to acquire sequence of Mössbauer spectra during such processes as chemical reactions, material phase transitions and other various relaxation processes. It is realized by segregation of detected photons according to a trigger pulse which reflects the state of the process. Application of this approach is suitable for those processes which can be repeated many times. Proper performance of such experiment is demonstrated on magnetizing construction steel in an external magnetic field up to 0.16 T where the turning of magnetization with respect to the applied magnetic field is observed. The duration of the one magnetizing process run was 24 ms.
