Abstract

Influence of hydrostatic pressure, P, on the probability of recoilless absorption. f, relative absorption line position, ΔE, and quadrupole splitting, ΔEQ, of Mossbauer spectrum are experimentally determined. Results of a Mossbauer study of SnO point to a linear increase of f, decreases of the electron density at the tin nucleus and increases EQ with increasing P. The phase transition in SnO discovered earlier in non hydrostatic conditions is not detected. This fact is used to make conclusion that it is necessary to take into account shearing stresses for this phase transition. [Russian text Ignored]
