Abstract

Magnetic and Mossbauer measurements have been performed on the new REFe10V2 and REFe11Ti compounds (RE=Y, Er) having the tetragonal ThMn12 structure. Anisotropy field measurements performed as a function of temperature, using the singular point detection technique, revealed an anomalous behaviour of the Er contribution to the anisotropy. The Fe57 Mossbauer measurements indicate the presence of a distribution of hyperfine parameters for Ti containing compounds. A non random distribution of the V ions on the 8i sites has to be assumed to interpret the more complex spectra of REFe10V2.
