Abstract
This article presents an overview of the MSAS system as well as the whole MTSAT system which is a key component of the new CNS/ATM infrastructure in the Asia/Pacific region. The latest project status of MSAS is also described. MSAS is a Satellite Based Augmentation Systems that is being implemented in the Asia/Pacific region by the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB). It uses a Multi-Function Transport SATellite (MTSAT), the first of which will be launched in the summer of 1999.
