Abstract
This article presents maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of a hybrid renewable energy system connected to the grid. The investigated system includes a photovoltaic pane (PV), permanent magnet synchronous generator-based wind turbine, and a battery as an energy storage system. MPPT is applied to both PV and wind systems using incremental conductance technique. The PV array after MPPT is connected to boost DC-DC converter and connected to the common DC bus. Wind systems are also connected to the common DC bus by a boost converter. The battery is connected to the common DC bus, and then integrated into the AC utility grid via a common DC/AC inverter. In order to extract the maximum energy, a simulation study using MATLAB/Simulink has been carried out. The obtained results show that the proposed hybrid system succeeded in feeding the power grid with a constant voltage and frequency signal at maximum power point.
