Abstract

Summary The Internet is a revolution in both human communications and resource sharing. Online interaction with ideas and other people is amplifying the effectiveness and reach of learned and learning communities. But for today's random acts of progress to evolve into systematic institutional and national progress, leaders will have to focus on technologies and professional methodologies that are scalable, manageable, and affordable. Efforts such as the Internet2 Project and the Instructional Management Systems Project have recognized the need for collective investment and action in these areas. This session reports and demonstrates recent, systematic progress that is global in scale.
