Abstract

The constant false alarm rate (CFAR) method is generally applied to the moving target detection (MTD) of UWB through-wall radar with impulse signal. The current study of CFAR has discussed MTD for the scenarios only including moving human targets. However, in fact, in addition to the multi-targets, the scene with stationary strong clutter is also necessary to be considered, whereas, these CFAR methods above suffer from a lot of false alarms in this case. To solve this problem, a moving target CFAR detection method along slow-time profile is presented in this paper. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm not only has good detection performance for moving human targets, but also can effectively suppress the false alarms generated by stationary strong clutter.
