Abstract

The effect of longitudinal magnetic field on the characteristics of moving striations appeared in low pressure gaseous plasma, and the relation between these striations and helical oscillation are experimentally investigated in connection with anomalous diffusion. Although the frequency of striations decreases monotonically with increasing magnetic field, wavelength shows complex changes. It is found that strong interaction exists between these striations and helical oscillation in the region of anomalous diffusion. Moving striations begin to be strongly damped with distortion of wave-forms in the presence of helical oscillation.
