Abstract
The last few months have been potentially divisive for the medical profession with some people adopting polarised views on the Health and Social Care Bill, sometimes on the basis of misinformation. debate has been passionate and, at times, heated. Colleges have held extraordinary general meetings and conducted polls of members. The results have often been contradictory: calls for withdrawal yet a desire to continue dialogue. Your Council has attempted to distance our College from the political polemic and has consistently signified its wish to 'critically engage'. I outlined in my last email how this policy had improved the bill.
