Abstract
Summary In Hong Kong, the redevelopment of the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club racecourse in Happy Valley required the removal of two massive 150+ year old banyan trees (Ficus microcarpa L.). Public opposition to their felling prompted a feasibility study which proposed that the trees be moved to a new location. Over a two year period, the trees were prepared and in March, 1995 they were removed to their new position, where they appear to be thriving.
