Abstract

Defence exports are the UK's most successful export in the international market‐place. This success, Roger Freeman argues, is not only important economically but also in establishing a good working relationship with our allies. He notes the need for responsibility and details the various controls exercised on this field. He projects as to the likely state of defence exports in the future and Britain's strategy to maintain its success, in a market which is both declining and becoming more competitive. The aim of the UK is not to become complacent, but to respond to the challenges ahead to ensure continued success.
