Abstract

STUDENT AND FACULTY PERSPECTIVE Drugstore Cowboy takes place in the early 1970's, in the wake of the cultural revolution when recreational drug use was more widely tolerated. The film stars Matt Dillon as a young man named Bobby who becomes addicted to opioids, including hydromorphone, at a young age. The movie features him traveling the country with his wife and another couple, stealing prescription drugs from local pharmacies and hospitals in search of the next high.
