Abstract

This paper focuses on the corporate relocation experi- ence of black corporate managers and their families. In particular, attention is directed toward identifying the sources of stress and spe- cial problems for black managerial families, as well as their potential sources of support. Findings suggest that two factors, (1) social isolation, and, (2) physical distancing from kin support networks may contribute to problems with relocation. Findings also pointed to three factors that serve as sources of support for these families. Included in some detail are descriptions of problems with relocation encountered by those in the sample. Finally, suggestions are offered to ease the problems of relocation of black corporate managers and their families.
