Abstract

Aim This article presents a literary analysis of sacred motifs in the works of the poets who represent the «New York Group». They are an important element of this creative group paradigm and inherent literary discourse. The purpose of this article is to identify the sacred motifs in the works of these «New York Group» poets and to explore and research the underlying factors of their writings. Methods Methodology for this study is the use of a systematic approach utizing literary and historical methods. It is based on these two approaches: both literary and historical, in order to be able to explore the sacred motifs in the works of the poets of the «New York Group». The basic source of creativity, which belongs to the category of sacredness as; God, truth, judgment fate (destiny) and prayer. Methods to analyze and study these sacred grounds have been used, and separate them from the work of the «New York Group» - as an important literary discourse. Results The article discusses different approaches to the definition of «sacred motives». It focuses on literary traditions in preserving sacred values of Ukrainian poetry undergone in emigration. A detailed analysis of the relationships between the members of the «New York Group» is presented. Different forms of sacred expressive motives, particularly through direct and descriptive nomination, by citing the poets and their poetry include the individual features of their work in the context of the chosen topic. Scientific novelty The article is conducive to literary analysis of sacred motifs in the works of poets of the «New York Group» as an important part of the creative group paradigm and inherent literary discourse. Religious motives in the works of poets of the «New York Group» remains to be one of the least studied topics, particularly in Ukrainian literary criticism. The article aims to provide a basis for systematic research issues sacral motives in the works of poets of the «New York Group». Practical significance This article may be used to further improve knowledge about sacred motifs in the works of the poets of the «New York Group» Academic research and the findings can be used for writing term papers and dissertations.
