Abstract

THE report of the Falmouth Committee has disappointed that large section of public opinion which hoped that motor spirit might be produced from coal in sufficient quantities to render Great Britain independent of foreign supplies, either in peace or in war. On the other hand, the report recognizes the immense amount of scientific activity that is being expended on the subject, and it is therefore opportune to consider the position as it is to-day.
