Abstract

ISO is a set of standards that regulates systems management. The standards address management operations in addition to internal procedures such as quality improvement and increased efficiency. They also address company-client and inter-company relations. The ISO examines a company's internal procedures much more often than its external policies. Companies can improve managerial operations using ISO standards; they can also use the standards for marketing purposes. ISO developed questionnaires and sent them companies with the aim of finding out what would motivate companies to implement ISO standards and receive certification. The top reasons named by Lithuanian companies for implementing the ISO system included improving the consistency and efficiency of functions within the company, improving product quality and increasing competitiveness.
