Abstract

The article considers motivational factors of international migration. The authors identify two significant components of subjective well-being: material well-being, and well-being in the field of health and medical care. Logit-models of multiple ordered choice are constructed, which allows, firstly, to investigate the dependence of the degree of satisfaction with the financial situation on demographic characteristics, as well as on the presence of a higher education diploma, and, secondly, to analyze how individuals themselves assess their health depending on from demographic characteristics and bad habits. The simulation results led to the conclusion that an increase in age leads to a decrease in satisfaction with the financial situation. Men are more likely to be satisfied with their financial situation. The presence of children does not affect the financial situation of the respondents. People with higher education are more satisfied with their financial situation. Respondents define the state of their health and medicine in general as a factor that reduces the level of subjective well-being. However, subjective well-being and assessment of one’s own health are largely determined by the respondent’s income level. A classification of the motivational factors of international migration is proposed with an emphasis on the components of subjective well-being. depending on the motivation, different factors may be dominant, which ultimately affects the choice of a country for emigration. But the main factors that encourage people to emigrate from Russia are the desire to have a higher income and realize their creative potential.
