Abstract

The study aimed to identify the motivation to practice sports activities among socially disabled Rehabilitation and Correction Centers’ Inmates in Jordan and make a comparison in the motives according to the variables of time life, judicial decision duration, qualifications, correction centers. The research sample consisted of 148 prisoners. Descriptive analytical approach was used, and the study tool consisted of 53 paragraphs, the result accuracy and credibility were verified. One of the most important findings of the research is that there are no statistically significant differences at the level of significance) for the motivation to practice sports activities with socially disabled (Correction and Rehabilitation Centers’ Inmates) in Jordan. According to the above variables, and with the respect of the results, the author recommendations concentrated on the following factors: activating the motivation in the participants, such as the providing specialized sport supervisors and increasing the number of trainers specialized in different programs to suit the participants, considering the customs and traditions of the Jordanian society, and conducting an analytical study of the reality in Jordanian Correction and Rehabilitation Centers in terms of possibilities and facilities, programs, trainers, administrators, participants, to identify this reality, strengthen and address strengths and weaknesses. The importance of this research comes from the importance of motivation for sports practitioners for this group of society and this research is exposed to a group in Jordanian society because the motivation is of great importance to this group in the practice of sports activities and has a significant impact on the modification of the personality. The importance of this research is also evident from the importance of this category, which deals with it, as it is based on the places where this category is located and where prisoners must adapt.
