Abstract

ABSTRACT The study examined the relationship between work motivation and organizational commitment among the employees of the public sector. Participants were 224 employees from the public sector organization in four Middle East countries. The results indicated a significant positive relationship between extrinsic motivation (external, introjected, identified regulation), Intrinsic Motivation and organizational commitment (affective, continuance, and normative). Also, there were significant differences between the level of organizational commitment and qualification/experience among the employees compared to position, gender or salary. Finally, the results indicated that there were significant differences in the level of work motivation and salary/experience among the employees compared to position, gender or qualification. The study recommended paying more attention to the effects of different forms of motivations on the performance of the workers in the public sector.
