Abstract

The high price of cloves in the market today is certainly one of the factors driving the work of farmers to be more active in carrying out clove farming activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of motivation of farmers in clove farming in Karemotingge Village, Tirawuta District, East Kolaka Regency and to determine the relationship between the motivational factors of farmers to Intrinsic and Extrinsic motivation of farmers in clove farming in Karemotingge Village, Tirawuta District, East Kolaka Regency. This study was analyzed using quantitative methods. The result shows taht the level of motivation of farmers in clove farming in Karemotingge Village, Tirawuta District, East Kolaka Regency is in the very high category, namely the level of intrinsic motivation consisting of the desire to earn higher incomes, the desire to meet the needs of family life, the desire to live more prosperously, the desire to have and increase savings and the desire to buy luxury goods which is 87.1% and the level of extrinsic motivation which consists of the desire to add relationships or friends, the desire to cooperate with others the desire to strengthen harmony , the desire to exchange opinions and the desire to get help from others is 91.4%, there is a significant relationship between the motivational factors of farmers and the motivation of farmers in clove farming, namely intrinsic motivation with income, the role of government and availability of production facilities and extrinsic motivation of farmers with farmer experience and the role of the government in clove farming in Karemotingge Village, Tirawuta District.
