Abstract

By use of the continuum theory of mixtures, a theory is presented for elastic conductors. The ionic lattice and electronic gas as separate continua constitute the members of the mixture. Balance laws and jump conditions are given, and a set of properly invariant constitutive equations are obtained and linearized. The field equations are solved for a problem of electrostatic probe, namely, a half space subject to an electrostatic potential.
