Abstract

Important and interesting events are taking place in the countries of Latin America: a campaign is being promoted to liquidate illiteracy among large masses of the population, a reform of primary schools is planned or already being put through, the structure and content of secondary education are being modified considerably, the system of teachers training is being revised. In this connection pedagogical science acquires ever greater importance. Special scientific-research institutes and laboratories are being created to study problems of education and training. All these events reflect profound changes in the cultural life of Latin-American countries and indicate their aspirations to enter upon a path of independent national development.
