Abstract

An increase in the level of imported malaria in England and Wales and especially in the Medway Health District, and the continued existence of a vector of vivax malaria, Anopheles atroparvus, there, are reasons for the risk of the local transmission of malaria to be taken seriously. Recommendations for local action to minimize this risk, and action to be taken should a case of proved locally transmitted malaria be reported, are given.
