Abstract
Oesophageal-cancer mortality data are regionalized. There are wide geographical differences. High age-adjusted mortality rates are found in the northern part of Norway and in the Oslo area. There are clearly elevated mortality rates in the most urbanized areas. While there is a slight decline in mortality rates for both sexes, male mortality rates remain three to four times the female rates.
