Mortality and morbidity during a period of high levels of air pollution. New York, Nov. 23 to 25, 1966.

Abstract

A Thanksgiving Day episode in which maximum SO/sub 2/ (in ppM) and smoke shade index (in COHs/100 ft) reached 1.02 and 8.2, respectively, on 25 November was discussed. Some correlation with increase in mortality and morbidity, especially with regard to circulatory and respiratory diseases was found.
