Abstract
A stepwise demonstration of our surgical techniques when resecting endometriosis in the upper abdomen, specifically in Morrison’s Pouch. There is currently limited literature of Morrison’s Pouch Endometriosis. Given Morrison’s pouch endometriosis is rare and located under the liver it requires advanced surgical skills when performing a resection. We describe our step-by-step approach to operating in the upper abdomen. The key principles for successful laparoscopic resection of endometriosis found in the upper abdomen include: - Operating room set up - Patient positioning - Trocar placement - Mobilization of liver - Identification of Endometriosis in the upper abdomen - Understanding resection principles of endometriosis Given upper abdominal endometriosis is uncommon, advanced minimally invasive surgeons with knowledge of endometriosis are best equipped to identify and surgically remove endometriosis in difficult locations such as in Morrison’s Pouch.
