Abstract

Morpho-physiological and cytogenetic modifications in Chironomus riparius under the effect of copper ions were studied. It was stated that growth of the toxicant concentration leads to decrease of the survival and larvae's mass, delay of emergence, morphological deformations of the mouth apparatus and structural-functional changes in the polytene chromosomes of the salivary glands. These modifications were shown to serve as sensitive criterion of the sublethal pollution by the copper ions. under the effect of copper ions were studied. It was stated that growth of the toxicant concentration leads to decrease of the survival and larvae
