Southeast Ambrym (SEA),' like most Melanesian languages, has a class of inalienable nouns which generally refer to body parts and kin. The inalienable nouns occur only in possessive phrases where the possessor is minimally specified by either (a) suffixation for the categories Person, Number, and Inclusion, or (b) a noun phrase, immediately following the possessed noun.
