Abstract
Abstract In Mempawah Mangrove Park (MMP) coastal area, fishers are still often catch horseshoe crabs as a bycatch. One of its genera is Tachypleus. This research aimed to assess the morphometric character of Tachypleus from MMP Coastal area, West Kalimantan. A total of 14 parameters were measured from samples that were collected using a trammel net. The sampling frequency was three times from July to September 2022. Physical and chemical parameters of the waters are also studied to support the ecological information. Two species of Tachypleus were found in these waters, i.e. Tachypleus gigas (8 males and 4 females) and Tachypleus tridentatus (6 males and 11 females). In terms of size, females were larger than males in both species. Based on morphometric comparison between females and males of T. gigas, there was a significant difference in CL/PW ratio (p<0.05). On the other hand, for T. tridentatus, the ratio of PL/OL differed significantly (p<0.05).
