Abstract

Adult males and females of Lema trilineata daturaphila Kogan & Goeden emit audible sound when disturbed. The stridulatory organs have the same location and structure on each sex. The pars stridens is a transversally striated plate on the 7th abdominal tergite. The plectrum is a slightly convex subsutural ridge covered with a broad band of caudally directed spines which narrows anteriorally along the internal face of the elytra. Each chirp corresponds to 1 pulse train composed of pulses of sound (damped oscillations). The pulse repetition rate for females is 1300 pulses per second; for males, 2000 pulses per second. The carrier frequently for both sexes is 6500 Hz.
