Abstract

Abstract The morphology of (0112) twins studied in Zn is described as well as interfacial defects. Twin boundaries are usually made up of three types of interface: straight parts parallel to the K1 (0112) composition plane, growing parts involving a series of geometrically well defined steps separated by (0112) boundary portions and the tip which is shown to adopt a {0112}-type plane perpendicular to K1. Defects associated with these three types of boundary are analysed. Particular attention is paid to twinning dislocations met in the growing parts and to the dislocation configuration of the twin front.
