Abstract

A strategy of modifying the α-Ag2WO4 crystal morphology by adjusting pH value and doping rare earth ions was reported. Eu3+, Dy3+, Tm3+ and Er3+ doped α-Ag2WO4 crystals were synthesized by co-precipitation method. The morphology of α-Ag2WO4 can be turned from rod to sphere by doping Eu3+, Dy3+, Tm3+ and Er3+. Temperature dependent emission spectra of Eu3+, Dy3+, Tm3+ and Er3+ doped α-Ag2WO4 are studied. It can be observed that the emission intensity ratios of host (WO42−) and rare earth ions emissions are temperature dependent and can be used as excellent optical thermometers. The maximum relative sensitivity can reach at 2.53% K−1 for α-Ag2WO4:2%Dy3+, which is higher than the values in some reported works.
