Abstract
Without using any templates or surfactants, SnS2 nanoparticles and nanosheets are successfully synthesized via a simple and convenient refluxing method. Both SnS2 nanoparticles and nanosheets are hexagonal SnS2 phase. SnS2 nanoparticles synthesized at low temperature create a high density of sulfur vacancies. SnS2 nanosheets show high adsorption capacities owing to the special morphology and large specific surface area, while SnS2 nanoparticles display enhanced visible light photocatalytic activities, which can be ascribed to the efficient charge separation and transportation due to the high density of sulfur vacancies. The present work provides a facile method for designing the highly active SnS2 photocatalysts that can effectively utilize sunlight.
