Abstract

We demonstrate that flow-driven precipitation can lead to the selective production of a crystalline structure. Our experimental results reveal that in the calcium carbonate system the local mixing, maintained by the concentration and density gradients, favours the nucleation and growth of high-purity calcite microcrystals, identified with Raman microscopy.
